Okay, Zexsudel and I were talking and I finally hashed out my character, so I'm posting now before any of it slips my mind. Thus, here we go:
Serenity is a human female with absolute amnesia. As far as she knows, she woke up five years ago in a monastery with absolutely no knowledge, both of who she is and the world she lives in. Full of compassion for her plight, the monks of the monastery take her in and train her in their ways. Every moment that she is not training her body, she wholed herself up in the library, reading every book she could get her hands on.
Since she feels she has begun her life possessing no knowledge, she is absolutely driven to acquire ALL knowledge in her lifetime. Thus, after five years at the monastery, feeling that she had learned all she could from the monks, she set out on her own to obtain knowledge of the world through firsthand experience.
However, being as she has literally only five years of world experience, and that all locked up in a monastery, gaining most all of her information and wisdom from books, she is extremely socially inept and quite naive. Her first inclination is to turn to a book for information, rather than ask a living person. While she thinks adventuring is the best way to gain knowledge, she doesn't quite understand what that entails, especially in terms of being around others, gathering information, etc.
Keeping these thoughts in mind, I was wondering if I could take a flaw that is not outlined in a book, persay, but is to the effect of being socially inept. Perhaps, a penalty to dipomacy and gather info checks in exchange for an extra feat at level one?
My idea for her class is to, obviously, begin as a monk. However, as she grows as a character and discovers more of the world around her, she becomes intensely fascinated by the arcane arts, and begins researching all she can about arcane spellcraft - thus being to take levels of wizard. This may preogress, especially adventuring with a artificer like Nitro, into taking the Alchemist Savant prestige class (in effect trying to one-up Nitro, who has a tendency to infuriate her with his lack of intelligence and more powerful "creations").
So, what do you think?
