Looks like PP still hires that moron that made the first batch of satxyis models. For those not sure what I mean go look at the "blighted" archers. I mean I certainly don't think they are the best work....lets hope they are better in person.

yea, i don't like them either. The faces look bad, and it isn't a great paint job, but the heads are closer to proper size than most pp miniatures. I'd like to see more of that.

They're definitely the least impressive of the new models; very disappointing for those of us looking to play Legion. Oh well... maybe they'll be better in production.

Yeah the Skorne really got the short end of the stick too in the first unit. Shame since the rest of their stuff looks really good. Guess you can't have it all.

the only problem i have with the praetorians is the shoulder pads are too large to be so tight to their heads, and the robes/armor don't flow. I liek the wolves, but the armor doesn't look fun to paint. The trollkin scatterguns are ok, but their leader and a few other poses look a little goofy. I like the seraph, but the wings will need to be bent to look less planar. The last wave of casters was amazing though. The cover art for primal rocks too. Are they doing a print w/ the hardcover again. Hopefully they do well with the large warbeasts.

I'm pretty sure that the excessive highlighting done on the faces of both the archers and the preatorians was one of their downfalls. It makes their skin look almost too tight and very gaunt looking. Some facial expressions are weird yes but GO BACK INSIDE! their fighting heh. I'm think that with some clever painting you can really get a lot of different, better looks out of those faces... hopefully..

Over highlighted you say? Gee, I wonder if these folks went to the GW school of painting... Yes, hopefully the final models and some better painting (a la the original sorscha and eiryss models they painted) these can be far better looking pieces.

The other problem with the new Archers is the size of the bows. They are way too thin, and are incredibly fragile... on the pose that's shooting straight (not the more upward shooting ones) there's a mold defect in the lower half of the handle... I had to let both top and bottom half of the bow come off and pin straight thru the hand into both sides... not fun on a part that small. Also had to glue the bottom tip of the bow to the leg to add more support to the flawed area. The sculpts actually look pretty nice to me, but the bows are simply too small to hold up in the pewter...
