I ran across this problem when facing Bryan and his Cygnar, and I cant remeber if we resolved it or not. And since no one had the presence of mind to actually ask an intellegent and somewhat criticle question about the Stalker, I couldnt get an answer in the rules forum.
So the question is:
Leaping. Does it count as movement or something else. I have read the card and I know the rules. I want to clarify if it counts as movement or not.
The situation where this question arose was when Bryan blasted the movement system on my stalker, and so I could only move 1. Now, Would I still be able to Leap the 5" as long as I had the focus, or would I be only able to leap 1". The card says leaping ignores movement penalties and effects, but having your movement reduced to 1" isnt an effect or penalty is it? Its what the movement capiablilities of the jack are as a result of dammage. So wouldn't it count as the Stalker having a movement of 1"? If that is the case, then does the leap still apply at 5" or does it get affected by the dammage as well?
And if this is a stupid question, my bad, but atleast from what I read of the older rules forums, its a higher grade of stupid questions.

I believe that it doesnt count as movement. I remember the issue with the Devout, in that if a stalker begins or ends his Leap in melee range of the the Devout, the Devout can't take his Defensive Strike. So, it's not movement. I could be wrong, but I think this is how it was ruled.

Ok, but did that Stalker still have full movement capiablilities? Cause thats what Im after, is if the movement dammage will effect the leap. It didnt mention it in the Escalation rules or on the card. I checked.

It says in Escalation, that a Stalker can not leap if it couldn't normally Charge or Slam, so I think if the movement goes, the Leap goes.

Actually from what I have read the stalker can still Leap without its M system. Just put it down as "Wacky Cryz Hax0rz skills" like how the Leviatan still has its "spider legs" trait without its M system.
here from PPS Kevin:

Yeah, but doesn't having your movement disabled prevent you from charging and slamming?
