Ok this came up in a game I was playing against Andrew. Magnus went to go shot his scattergun and it happened that he was getting a backstrike. Now Magnus himself get Backstab, adding an additional die to damage rolls from back strikes. So we both wondered for a second if it applied to range or not. Well here is the answer: Right from Swami "the bonus applies to ranged and magic attacks, too. If it were meant to apply only to melee attacks, I trust that it would have said so." And with that the scattergun just became even cooler.

Hooray, everyone's favorte backstabbing deviant will now not just stab you in the back. He'll shoot you in the back or fry your ass with magic in the back as well.
Thanks for the rules clarification. Now If I could only easily slip behind the enemy.

Well, good to see you got a reply on that one. I guess the moral of the story, don't let Magnus the Traitor(ous beeyotch) get behind you and stay there. It will be the death of you...
'cause we all know this guy is totally borken (j/k - I know pg. 5 quite well, thank you)
