Wow a rules question.
My question is reguarding the ability of the Cygnar Stormsmiths and how many times the ability can be used. The card reads as follows: "As a special action, the stormsmith may call down one of the following lightning strikes." Now remember the stormsmith is a solo, and the card says the stormsmith so that leads me to believe that EACH stromsmith my use one of the lightning strikes. Now it's a no brainer for single strike, but surge and triangulation require one or two other stormsmiths within 20". The question is this: does an attack such as triangulation, that needs two other stormsmiths within 20" of the, lets call him, "sorce" stormsmith, take those other 2 stormsmiths' attacks as well? Basically, if I want to use triangulation on an enemy unit, is it only one triangulation attack, or can I make three, for each of the three stormsmiths. The card has this to say on trianglation: "A Stormsmith [note the singular] may make a triangulation special action if he and two other friendly Stormsmiths are within 20" of eachother. The Stormsmith may target..." and so on. The card sticks with the singular tense. I'm also gonna quote CeltKhan (a pressganger) from the PP forums: "I see them[stormsmiths] as being more useful in a melee army than anything else. When it's all mixed thoroughly in a mass melee and ranged troops are all but useless... call down 9 lightning bolts on their butts." He says 9 lightning bolts meaning triangulation 3 times.
So what are your thoughts? Right now I'm thinking each stromsmith may chose any one of the lightning strikes to use as a special action, it just needs the other ones in range to... amplify him or something. But you could make an argument either way, that's why I posted it heh.
