Steam Stampede V
General Rules:
Main Event, Steam Stampede V 500-point Tournament
The Warmachine Steam Stampede V will be a standard (not Steam Roller) 500-point tournament following the official tournament guidelines with the following exceptions:
All models must be painted and based. This means the model must be entirely covered in paint, with at least 3 colors on them, and the base must also at least be painted, if they are not flocked. Models not meeting these requirements will not be allowed in the 500-point tournament.
Two special scenarios use models above the standard 500-point limit (see below).
Rounds will be 75 minutes long. The tournament will go 5 rounds.
Objective Cards
(Note: These objective cards will be available online to view well before the event. The link to these cards will be posted on this thread)
The Warmachine Steam Stampede V uses a unique format. After being matched up with an opponent for your first game, you both will receive a deck of 20 objective cards. Shuffle these cards and deal 7 cards face down to each player. The remaining 6 cards are handed back to the event organizer. You will hold onto these cards throughout the tournament. At the start of each game, when you know your opponent’s army but before rolling for turn order, pick one objective card, follow its special instructions, and place it face down on the table. At the end of each game, you and your opponent reveal your cards so that you can show each other whether you met your objective or not. Since by game five, you will be down to three objective cards, you will pick one and the remaining two objectives will never be used.
Scoring will be as follows. Each player will receive Scoring Points based on achieving their objective, preventing your opponent from achieving their objective, keeping your warcaster alive, and eliminating the enemy warcaster.
Score Table:
Your objective achieved? 5 points
You stopped opponent from achieving their objective? 3 points
Your warcaster kept alive? 1 point
You eliminated the opponent’s warcaster? 1 point
Further, each player will have the opportunity to judge their opponent’s participation whether they, “played like they had a pair!” For those who feel their opponent did, +1 bonus point will be added to their score for that game.
Note that the moment a Warcaster is killed, the game ends immediately.
Two games in the tournament are special scenarios. In one of the scenarios, you will use an additional mercenary unit or solo worth 50 points or less (above your 500 point army size limit) and in the other scenario, you will use a warjack from your faction worth 130 points or less. Normal field allowance restrictions still apply.
Your scores will be cumulative as game rounds continue. After all 5 rounds are played, each player's lowest score will be dropped, the score from the highest 4 rounds will be totaled, and a final winner will be determined. In the unusual event of a tie, the event organizer will determine the winner based on the record of games played. If necessary, a playoff game will be announced.
Steam Stampede V
Game #2: Scenario
Mercenaries
Additional Mercenaries on the battlefield
In game #2, each player will have one additional mercenary unit or solo worth 50 points or less (above your 500 point army size limit), in addition to their regular army, deployed on the battlefield.
Steam Stampede V
Game #4: Scenario
Warjack Activation
Activating a Warjack on the battlefield
In game #4, each player will have one de-activated warjack from their faction (130 points or less), in addition to their regular army, on the battlefield. When setting up, each player measures 12” in from the right side of the battlefield, half way down the table, and places their warjack centered on that position.
Tips: The objective cards will be available for view before the tournament. Know the objectives so that you can choose your force appropriately, and have the best chance at figuring out what your opponent is trying to achieve. Also, choose your objective cards wisely based on what you believe you can accomplish with your army. Note that while eliminating the enemy warcaster certainly helps you achieve your objective and moves you higher on the Score Table, achieving your objective and stopping your opponent from achieving theirs is ranked of highest priority. For some of the objectives, you will need to be familiar with the ‘Carrying a Satchel’ rules in Apotheosis.
