Now that it's less than a week away, what are you guys thinking of doing for your Hordes army paintjobs? Will we be seeing the standard colors, or something totally different?
For my Trolls, Im still playing with the ideas, but I think Im gonna go with a yellow/tan skin color, like Desert Yellow (GW), brown leathers, and mostly black metals, except for blades and weapon heads, which will be done up in either bronze or silver (not sure which will be better, yet)
And...here's the biggest surprise. NO GOLD. Thats right, you heard it here first. There will be no gold in my Trollblood army.

considering how often you've change paint schemes in the past it's gonna be tough for you. Oh yeah and you better not cop out and use like a light bronze or something, that's cheap.

Fox not painting models gold? Yeah i will beleive that one when Steve stop being ghey. Anyways. I am thinking I will revise my old thoasand sons color scheme (dark blue, with gold accent and some yellow in some spots) on my Skorne. But seeing as how I have no money it will be a long time before I ever own any Hordes models.

C'mon Fox, ya gotta have SOME gold in there, nobody 'll know it's yers if ya don't. For my Everblight I'm going with my usual - similar but not quite the stock choices. Light grey blue for the Warbeast flesh, but bright green instead of pink for the fleshy bits and dark green lizard spots down the spine Black faded to red for the armor plates and horns on the Warbeasts. Light grey blue mixed with flesh for the blighted troopers Black and dark brown leather, dark metals for troop armor As we all know it takes me forever to paint a model, so don't hold yer breath waiting to hear how it turns out So what's everyone else thinking? Are we all just doing the standard or what?

For skorne perhaps try like a desert yellow and browns on the armor plates with brass and gold to make them blend in with all that dirt! No really, I have no idea with skorne if you dont want to do the box set. You could try my idea and use blues and bronze with a little bit of yellow a la 1k Sons, or try like a deep purple with boltgun metal...

Pretty much I wanna incorporate the weird funky latex white, with the funky purple used in many of the eva monsters [Lilith, the final Evas etc . . .] From there I dunno how im gonna do the caster, thats a big question mark as of now. I really dont want an Eva theme, so Ill forget painting it up like an eva pilot [that would also be a pain]. I just like the color scheme. Although I will admit I want to sand down all the bumps on my war beasts. Have a bajilliony bumpy bone surfaces cool kill the look im going for. any suggestions for the caster ?

I would suggust Thorgash if you are wanting to stick to the "eva" ish theme. I remeber when Unit 1 broke its bounds and at the fallen angel, and that look in its eyes I think closest resembles him.
Also a suggustion on getting the latex look i would suggust using a mix of matte and shiny varnishs. I would use the matt to start with and then try using the luster one to paint on highlights and area of tension in the skin (shoulders and eblow, etc). Thats my 2 cents. Though I think this might turn into another thread hehe.

Yea that sounds like it would work out much better than what I had planed. I was gonna use the same paint stuff I used on my eiryss model. But that destroyed every brush I used with it because I think it was like "enamel" paint or something. But it did have that color. I was also thinking it was kinda like the Ipod color. And even though im not much a supporter of Ipod I think it would be hilarious to have an iHordes army. Plus it would be an easy paint scheme. All white with silver highlights. Or if you think of the commericials. All black and just highlight things like the models weapons with white.

You can get Vallejo brush on vanish at Mil Games I think. I know they make some since I have the brush on matte varnish. Also I would never work with enamels for this type of work. You need turbatine (sp) to really clean the brush and its not fun stuff. If you are working on like a model car or something with less detail or you want a thicker layer of paint maybe, but hobby mini's nope. Aless you thin it and airbursh it as a base. Then maybe...
