Hi all,
This is easily my best figure to date, and I think I have finally reached real display quality paint work with this one... it's the Katrina relief resculpt Vladimir Tzepesci, but I still wasn't happy with his little girly legs or rediculus Barbie doll waist. To remedy this, I whipped out a Reaper figure that I wanted to paint but had bee sitting in my drawer for months and the Dremel. I removed everything on Vlad from the bottom of the shoulders down. I then chopped off from the collarbone up on the Reaper figure and dremeled off some details and such that didn't belong. I mounted Vladimir's hip plates and knee pads in order to keep the ornate feel of his ancient armor and sculpted a new torso and chest plate from Green Stuff. The daggar blade with the runes on it came from a Reaper miscellaneous dagger weapon. I then went all out on the painting... highlighted red armor, much better gold mettalics than I've ever managed before, and a really detailed face, and I actually managed to highlight black hair. I've also finally gotten a decent feel for blending, at least over large surfaces like the cape, so I blended up to a royal blue on the cape and did the freehand work Graveyard Earth first, and then highlighted up to an earthen yellow that wasn't nauseatingly bright. The base is parts from a plastic steam golem figure hacked up and weathered. I hope you all like it, as I'm really proud of it and intend to kick some serious butt with it. I was going for a real dramatic feel, and there is going to be an accompanying Berserker jack in the same scheme to look like the scene in Escalation when Vladimir emerges from the forest with the 'Zerkers behind him to support Kommandant Irusk's invasion of Lael.
