OK, y'all know my favorite faction is Cygnar, but boy do I hate the ATGM's. I have used them in several situations lately and they just create a huge "vacuuming" sound when they try to do anything.
Their RAT isn't high enough to make them worthwhile, and if you "Arcane Inferno" them you can't use one of their special effects...BO-OH-GUS!
Now that new Gun Mage Adept (of which I picked up TWO because I am playing more 1000 point battles lately)...He DAH BOMB
When I come up in November, just slap me if I even think of fielding ATGM's with my force. Please...

Well you could side board them hehe. I dont know, I have noticed they are cool if they live long enough to do anything. They tend to find skyhammer shots fairly well ;D. 15 DEF means nothing when i dont even hit anyways

It's all about the armor baby. Hooray for trollkin with 15 ARM! Saves them from most blasts. I see ATGMs as being a little expensive for my tastes by they do add a lot to a themed army and can be useful in a pinch. But as explained before, they can bite the dust real early. And the Commander Adept is just kick ass. His ability to disregard stealth and cover and then add longshot you've got a pretty badass sniper.

PB_Zephyr wrote that in another thread y'all can't get to, but I wanted to share it here as a defense of the ATGMs.
OK, so they have a pretty good DEF and ARM for what would seem to be a pretty squishy unit. I still don't like their RAT. A "5"? Gimme a break. About all they hit is Khador! For Menoth 'Jacks that means the ATGMs need at least 7s or better. Against Cryx Jacks they need 9s or 10s! Too hard to get most of the time. I need to shoot the whole unit at one target in order to get a hit on it if it is Cryx. I can shoot two Menoth or [Marrow forbid] Cygnar jacks. I want to be able to take on at least three targets with that unit!
Longgunners...with a full unit and they havent' moved...four targets. With a RAT of 5 and firing 5 of them (CRA) at a target, that means they get +5 on the To Hit (essentially an RAT of 10) and have essentially a POW 15 when they hit (POW 10 for the Rifle then +5 for the CRA). So for 14 more points, I get more hits and more damage.
Sure, it might be nice to have the "push" effect or "shocker", but you still have to hit, and sometimes you need the critical for the really good effect to take place!
Nah, give me Longgunners and the GMCA (Gun Mage Captain Adept). Yep, Longgunner certainly are more squishy, but they still pack more of a wallop than the ATGMs in my book.
