So what do you think. This idea has been going back and forth in my head about how I make an army list. It's a bigger deal for me than probably Kako because what's on my list determines what I paint first and me being the slow painter I am have to make a decision because the tournement is coming up. So my question is: do I try for a theme army (either pisols or swords)but might not work as well or do I make an army list that works well but doesn't really have any focus (not focus, but you know what I mean.) And don't choose an answer because you just want it to be easier to beat me in the tournement please heh. Thanks for your imput in advance.

Well since i paint fast I just use whatever works. Though for cygnar I am building a themed army, being the sterotypical Lightening theme.

Id play a theme army if Menoth had any other theme than...
"Set it on fire, that always seems to work.."

anyone whos played me knows that i dont usually use much of a theme...or have any skills...but playing an army really should be based more on you're personal preferance really than just trying to field the cheesiest army that will kill things the fastest i try to balance it out a little so that melee units can have fire support (ex. kodiak rampaging through jacks followed by a group of widowmakers to polish off the now exposed systems)
basically use a theme but dont make it shooty or melee, try building it around similar effects like kakos lightning

I think I'm going with a hack n' slash or sword based army. w/ some LGers to balance out the points (but they still have swords.) The only one on the list without a sword... Reinholt. lol

A non-shooty Cygnar is nothing new to Zephyr though! He is the only Cygnar player I know that seems to never field LGers. He just instead likes to waltz into the middle of my army and smash it Poor Menites

OK, this was my old Khador army. Khador's strong points are their brutal melee strength and badass armour. So I made an army focusing on long range attacks. It sounds stupid but its practical. Lets say we have a 1 to 10 scale. Khadors melee & armour are a 9. Everything else is a -2. By adding a healthy amount of longe range attacking units to my army I offset any disadvantages due to weak defense and speed. .....ok, looking over the posts again I realize what I just said had very little to do with anything. But oh well. It seems your problem is that you cant decide if you want to be legato or knives(damn me). (:::Translator kicking in . . . . :::)If legato(theme army playing Connor) went to the tournament he'd do it all flashy and have sex with a saxophone, while butterflys eat the flesh of his victims or sumthin. But if you were Knives(Strategy playing Connor) you would have some crazy strategy and give your opponent a whoopin. But then you realize wait, it dosent matter what you do, Legato or Knives(either way) your still gonna kick arse(Because your Connor) !

My Merc army. There's a unique theme. Magnus the Traitor, Boomhowler & Co., Eiryss, Reinholt, and Herne & Jonne.

The revenant crew already has hats and eye patches, the mechanithralls will need some, but i just don't think that the Skarre model looks right with a hat. Freebooter has a nice pirate girl with and a sword, might have to might have to put a hat on her. And horns www.freebooterminiatures.com/index-e.html

what you gotta do is, take the skarre mini, lop off that sorry excuse for a sword and but the ikrpg satyxis sword on instead. Then take a normal pirate miniature, cut his head off, and dangle it from one of her horns. That way she'll have a cool sword, and have the hat and eyepatch! ;D

Skarre's sword would be pretty hard to get off. It's not just attatched to her hand, but the cape too. The IKRPG satyxis sword is alot larger than Skarre's and it would lok rather dispreportionate. I would like to give her a sword with blood red glyphs engraved in it.#nosmileys
